Anna Lindh Istanbul Youth Forum

Anna Lindh Istanbul Youth Forum will be organised in Istanbul, Turkey, from 28 June to 1 July 2012 in cooperation with the three co-coordinators as the Heads of the ALF National Network in Turkey: the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), the System and Generation Association (S&G) and the Association of Civil Society and Development Institute.

Azərbaycanda yaşayalar başvuru edə bilməzlər. Digər ölkələrdə yaşayan azərbaycanlılar başvuru edə bilərlər. Ölkələrin adları aşağıda qeyd olunub. Seçilən iştirakçıların Yol, Yaşayış, Viza, Yemək və digər bütün xərcləri qarşılanır.

The objective of the Meeting is to contribute to the formulation, development and implementation of the Programme of the ALF Forum 2013 by articulating a Youth Perspective on broad social, cultural, economic and political challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean context in the wake of the major changes experienced by the region. In the framework of the 4D ALF strategy, the Meeting will aim to identify thematic priorities for action through the Intercultural Dialogue approach in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The Meeting will be organised in Istanbul, Turkey, from 28 June to 1 July 2012 in cooperation with the three co-coordinators as the Heads of the ALF National Network in Turkey: the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), the System and Generation Association (S&G) and the Association of Civil Society and Development Institute.

The Pre-Forum Youth Preparatory Meeting will gather around 45 participants from the Euro-Mediterranean region and having experience in the fields of Development, Dialogue, Diversity & Democracy. Around 10 of them will come from Turkey as hosting country of the meeting. The working languages will be English and French.

 The ALF will cover all expenses related to travel, board, accommodation and visa of the selected participants.

Description

CULTURAL INNOVATORS NETWORK, which is organized by the Goethe-Institut, aims at connecting young people from different European and Arab countries. It provides a platform for discussing experiences and approaches to challenges of their societies. Through meetings, online platforms and jointly drafted projects the CULTURAL INNOVATORS NETWORK will build strong links between the participants.

Eligibility

Applicant should:

• be open to meet and work together with people from different cultures and social backgrounds
• be engaged in projects or institutions working on political, social or cultural issues
• have the ability to implement a project and to inspire other people for their goals and ideals
• have strong links with the civil society in their countries
• be a resident of one of the eligible countries: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE
• be young adults up to the age of 32

Venue

SCHEDULE:

• The Learning Journeys (duration: 7 days) will take place between the end of June and July. The three destinations are: Egypt, Italy, and Germany.
• The Preparatory meeting (duration: 6 days), will be held in the first part of September 2012 in the city of Alexandria.
• The Cultural Innovators Forum (duration: 7 days) will be held in December in the city of Istanbul.

FINANCIAL CONDITIONS:

Azərbaycan Futbol Federasiya Assosiyasiyaları (AFFA) və “İRƏLİ” İdman Mərkəzi Azərbaycanda Qeyri Hökumət Təşkilatları arası ilk “Gənclər Kuboku” layihəsinə  start verir.  Layihənin keçirilməsində əsas məqsəd gənclər arasında idmanın inkişafı, sağlam həyat tərzinin təbliği  və bu sahəyə marağı olan gəncləri bir araya gətirməkdir. Layihədə iştirak etmək istəyən hər bir şəxsdən öz təşkilatını təmsil etmək üçün 20 May 2012-ci il tarixinə qədər www.ireli.az saytına daxil olaraq Elanlar bölməsində yerləşdirilən elektron formanı doldurmaları xahiş olunur. Layihə 1 İyun 2012-ci il tarixindən etibarən start götürəcək.

Qeyd edək ki, 2012-ci ilin Cənab Prezident tərəfindən “İdman ili” elan edilməsini, ölkəmizdə bu sahənin inkişafına dövlət qayğısının artırılmasını, həmçinin gənclər arasında idmana olan marağı nəzərə alaraq, “İRƏLİ” İctimai Birliyi “İRƏLİ” İdman Mərkəzi yaradılması qərarına gəlmişdir.

Call for Participation European Union Simulation Conference

The European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan announces a call for participation to the Model European Union Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan on 17 June 2012.

The Model EU Conference is a simulation of the EU working procedure that will provide university students with the opportunity to learn about decision-making, debating and conducting negotiations at an EU level and gain first-hand experience with international diplomacy.

During the Model EU Conference 30 selected students from state and private universities will discuss the relations between European Union and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Prior to the conference, the participants will be briefed on negotiation, speech writing and public speaking skills as well as on the EU’s activities and international relations in general. The students are expected to start extensive research on given topics. Participants also will be provided with a handbook giving information about the procedure of the Conference.

A certificate of participation will be issued for those who attend all sessions.

The working language of the event will be English.

Objectives:

• To give students from Azerbaijani universities better knowledge of the EU, its core values and activities, and relations with Azerbaijan. It also aims at providing the younger generation with a comprehensive understanding of functioning of the EU institutions;

• To promote dialogue and co-operation, mutual respect among young people

• To raise awareness of the EU in Azerbaijan by launching discussions in the Universities on topics focusing on the European Union activities.

Eligibility criteria:

• Undergraduate and Postgraduate students;

• Fluent English;

• Interest in International Affairs, EU law, Political sciences, International Trade, Energy, etc.;

• Full participation and availability for the whole pre-conference and conference period;

• Advanced writing and public speaking skills.

Note: In a course of the conference participants will be required to prepare position papers, write final reports, make an opening speech and actively participate in debates.

Who can apply:

The contest is open for two age groups: 1) 14-15 years old and 2) 16-17 years old. Each age group will be judged separately. Only participants living outside of Baku are eligible to submit essays. Alumni of the U.S. educational programs are not eligible to apply.

How to apply:

Submit your handwritten or typed essays to five American Centers (located in the Ganja Central City Library, Lankaran SCHRO, Khachmaz Central City Library, Salyan Central City Library, and Kurdemir Central City libraries) and f.y.i. (IREX) centers or sent them electronically toUSEssayContest@gmail.com. Handwritten essays shall be scanned and sent by email or turned in in person. Please include your name, place of residence, and contact information both in the email and on a separate cover sheet attached to your essay.

Judging:

The contest will be judged by the representatives from AAA, Peace Corp, and the U.S. Embassy. The main criteria will be creativity and the judges are mainly looking for the presentation of unique and well thought out ideas. Grammar and punctuation will not be taken into account except in extreme cases where they make the essay unreadable.

As today’s young people are crucial for the shaping of our future, it is imperative that they are enabled to develop to their full potential. UNESCO’s objective is to help empower young people, reaching out to them, responding to their expectations and ideas, and fostering useful and long-lasting skills.
This annual essay contest is organized in an effort to harness the energy, imagination and initiative of the world’s youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development. It also aims to inspire society to learn from the young minds and to think about how each of us can make a difference in the world.

Future begins with the vision we hold now. What kind of future do you wish to create for yourself and the world? Please share your dream and ideas for making it a reality.

Eligibility:

1. Essays may be submitted by anyone up to 25 years old (as of June 30, 2012) in one of the following age categories:
   • -Children (ages up to 14)
   • -Youth (ages 15 – 25)
2. Essays must be 800 words or less in English, French, Spanish or German; or 1600 characters or less in Japanese, typed or printed.
3. Essays must have a cover page indicating
   • -category (Children or Youth)
   • -essay title
   • -your name
   • -address
   • -phone number
   • -e-mail
   • -nationality
   • -age as of June 30, 2012
   • -gender
   • -school name (if applicable)
   • -Teachers and youth directors may submit a collection of essays from their class or group. Please enclose a list of participants’ names and the name and contact information of the submitting teacher or director.

Awards
The following awards will be given in the Children’s category and Youth category respectively:

1st Prize – Certificate and prize of 100,000 Yen (approx. US$1,300) – 1 entrant
2nd Prize – Certificate and prize of 50,000 Yen (approx. US$650)  – 2 entrants
3rd Prize – Certificate and gift - 5 entrants
Honorable Mention – Certificate and gift – 25 entrants

1st prize winners will be invited to the award ceremony in Tokyo, Japan scheduled for November 2012. (Travel expenses will be covered by the organizers.)

** All prize winners will be announced in November 2012 on the Goi Peace Foundation web site (www.goipeace.or.jp) and UNESCO web site (www.unesco.org/youth). Certificates and gifts will be mailed to the winners in December.

Azərbaycan Gənclər Fondu gənclər arasında Fondun loqosunun dizaynı ilə bağlı müsabiqə elan edir

Müsabiqənin keçirilməsində əsas məqsəd gənclərin Fondun fəaliyyətində yaxından iştirak etməsini təmin etmək və gənclərin iştirakı ilə Fondun vahid loqosunu hazırlamaqdır.

Müsabiqənin şərtlərinə görə özündə milliliyi, gənclər mövzusunu, müasirliyi və inkişafı ehtiva edən loqo dizaynı qalib gələcəkdir. Münsiflər Heyəti tərəfindən ən yaxşı loqo üçün dizayn variantı seçiləcək və qalib gələn şəxs Fondun Xüsusi Diplomu və “MacBook Air” noutbuku ilə mükafatlandırılacaqdır.

Təqdim edilən materiallar orijinal olmalı və dizayn edilmiş loqo əvvəllər nəşr edilməmiş olmalıdır. Əvvəllər yaradılmış dizayn və komponentlərdən istifadə edilmiş yaxud da qismən istifadə edilmiş loqo nümunələri müsabiqədə nəzərdən keçirilməyəcəkdir.

Hər bir namizəd loqo təklifini (bir nəfər maksimum 3 dizayn variantı təqdim edə bilər) hazırlayaraq 25 may 2012-ci il saat 17:00-dək office@youthfoundation.az elektron ünvanına təqdim etməlidir. Müsabiqə üçün təqdim edilən materiallar yüksək rezolyusiyalı “.JPG” formatda yuxarıda qeyd olunan ünvana göndərilməldir. İştirakçılar müsabiqənin əsasnaməsi ilə tanış olmalı, təqdim etdikləri loqo nümunələri ilə yanaşı iştirakçı vərəqini də dolduraraq yuxarıda qeyd olunan ünvana göndərmələri xahiş olunur.

Background 

1. In addition to the rapid development of electronic communication technology, the emergence of New Media, a new communication media with different characteristics to the existing one, contributed to the globalization through the diversification and the liberalization to humans. However, it is bringing about harmful consequences such as delivering distorted information, invasion of privacy and weakening of moral responsibility. Reflecting on this, it is necessary to introspect on the New Media.
2. Internet based new media devices which go beyond the international borders and becoming a worldwide talking point, such as smartphones, tablet PCs, UCC and SNS, not only do they allow youths to form a broad network, but they induce sharing of information and participation in society. Accordingly, the youths’ interest and thoughts regarding the policies that the nations and international organizations promote should be shared, and for the balanced development of the new media, it is the intention to search the role of the youth in this.
3. A moral youth culture should be formed through an in-depth public discussion on proper utilization of new media and youth culture that change rapidly to its surrounding environment, between all the youth around the world.

Objectives

 -To make youth aware of global problems, offering an opportunity to tackle them and to find alternative ways or solutions

-To improve cooperation and mutual understanding among youths across diverse cultures

- To spread goodwill around the world and to build interactive global citizenship through networking among youths

Participants

A. Overseas participants: 45 delegates

B. Korean participants: 30 delegates

C. Qualifications

- Youths between the ages of 18 and 26 who are significantly interested in the topic

- Participants should have a good command of English

Financial Aid

 Travel cost (airfare) will be subsidized by the organizer (NCYOK) except ASIA(Northeast Asia, Southwest Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia) according to the criteria below:

­- Participants travel from Africa, Oceania, Europe and American regions: US$ 550 (Azərbaycan daxil deyil)

Dates 

The NISA Summer Session will be held on 01-07 July 2012, in Baku, Azerbaijan. July 01 and July 07 are the dates of arrival and departure. Participants will be accommodated and meals will be provided.

Participants’ Profile

Participants should be young researchers, experts, NGO or Government representatives as well as academicians dealing with the issues of international security, foreign policy, regional conflicts and other related subjects.

NISA makes preference for participants who have already obtained their MA degrees or are in the process of MA or PhD researches.

Participants must be fluent in English, under the age of 35 and Nationals of NATO member states, Partnership for Peace countries, Mediterranean Dialogue and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative countries.

Please note that you can participate only once in NISA Sessions.

Participants who complete the session successfully will receive relevant diplomas, certified by the NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.

Financial procedures

NISA will provide scholarships to cover the expenses on accommodation, meals, local transportation and social programs during the event dates. NISA welcomes the self-coverage of the travel costs by participants. Nevertheless, limited funds are also available to provide reimbursement of the travel expenses up to 50% of some qualified participants.

There is no participation fee. Financial assistance requests for travel expenses will be considered individually. The request for the most economic travel expenses subsidization should be mentioned in the Application Form by indicating the details of transportation reservation and price.

Application procedures

Application must include the Application Form, detailed CV with photo and topical essay about 400 words related to the subjects of the session.  The paper should reflect applicant’s own writing and thinking and be sent to the following e-mail address: director@nisa.az with the subject line NAME SURNAME/ COUNTRY/ NISA SS 2012 (e.g. PATRICK IVOR / BELGIUM / NISA SS 2012), as appropriate. Incomplete applications (missing photo, incomplete application form, missing essay, CV) will not be accepted for selection. The deadline for the application submission is ) June 3rd 2012. Only short listed candidates will be notified on June 8th, 2012.

Would you like to be a participant in an exciting International Training Course and Conference that will help you to gain expertise on Internet Governance? Now you have a chance to take part in New Media Summer School: The Web of Tomorrow is Yours! Youth Think Thank on Internet Governance prior to the EuroDIG organized by YEU International, JEF, AEGEE, EYP, FYEG and European Youth Forum, held in Stokholm, Sweden.

The event aims to develop young people’s competences on internet governance issues, make the voice of young people heard and provide them a chance to participate in debates on web policy.

Eligibility

Applicants from the following countries are eligible to participate in the event: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Iceland, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Turkey, FYROM/Macedonia, Switzerland, Russian Federation, Tunisia, Egypt

What is more, you should be an outspoken and active young person between 18 and 30 from any country in Europe who has a passion and interest in issues surrounding policy, regulation and governance of the Internet. Previous knowledge of and experience in these subjects is highly desirable.

It is crucial that you are an outspoken person. They will need you to actively participate not only in the New Media Summer School, but also in EuroDIG, where you’ll represent European youth towards other stakeholders. Obviously, they’d love to see you lobby those government people into adopting your policy ideas!

What is also expected is a commitment to stay actively involved in youth efforts to influence Internet and New Media policy making processes within your country and on a European level. Of course, they’ll also ask you to spread whatever knowledge you gain in your network.

The maximum number of participants is 32. Should they receive more applications than can be accepted, they will of course assure a balance in terms of origin, gender and age in the participants, maximizing the diversity of perspectives and opinions.

The deadline for the application is May 1^st, 2011. The organizing team of the New Media Summer School will select participants by May 7^th at the latest.

Venue

The Summer School will be held in Stockhol, Sweden between 11th June to 16th June2012 (excluding travel days). YEU International will cover all costs related to accommodation, and 70% of travel costs (cheapest way) from the resident country. An enrolment fee is payable by each participant in order to support the overall budget of the event.
